When I was in graduate school, I suffered severe depression, anxiety and insomnia. After almost no sleep for three months, I cried to God desperately for help. God, in His mercy and wisdom, began to teach me how to overcome these by meditating on His words day and night as described in Psalm 1:
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:2-3, KJV)
For several months, I memorized many important verses of the bible. I would meditate on them and pray them day and night, and I was miraculously healed.
After experiencing the power of God’s words, I tried to develop a Psalm 1 lifestyle of meditating on God’s words day and night. But struggling with a busy life like many other people, it was very difficult for me to find time to keep my mind focused on God’s words. One thing I found very useful is audio bible. If I could listen to the bible while doing other things (e.g. exercise, cooking, driving, etc), my time would be used more efficiently. Unfortunately, I have tried many different devices – CD players, MP3 players, iPhone, iPad, and even other specialized audio bible players. None of them are that convenient to use. I needed a player:
